about us

We're from the Syracuse, NY, area and started dating when we went to BYU-Idaho for college. We were married December 2008 and have a daughter, Sophie. We will be welcoming a new baby in November 2013! We currently live in Mason, Ohio, near lots of family! Drew is working at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an Auto Claims Adjuster. Carissa is now a stay-at-home wife and momma! We know there's more in store for us in our future, and we say, "Come what may and love it!"

2 months

Baby girl is growing much too quickly for our liking!  She is already TWO MONTHS old!!  Where has the time gone?

At Sophie's 2 month appointment, she weighed 8 lbs 13.5 oz and was 20.5 in long.  She's finally the size of a normal newborn... except she's 2 months older!  Silly little baby.

Sophie has not only grown physically, but she has grown developmentally too!  A lot!  As of today, Sophie:

-SMILES!  all the time!
-weighs 8 lbs 13 oz
-is 20.5 in long
-loves loves loves her changing table
-has outgrown her newborn onesies, but still wears newborn clothes
-can wear 0-3 month onesies and almost fits the same size clothing
-wears size 1 diapers
-has more time when she is awake and alert - we take these opportunities to have playtime with her!
-can follow toys with her eyes, and especially loves the black & white eyes on her butterfly teether
-loves baths!  she still loves showers, but now she smiles and kicks in her baby bath
-has finally met Gaga Drogowski (my step-mom, Julie)
-went to church for the first time on Sunday (Jan. 22nd) for Sacrament Meeting
-talks to us!  Sophie loves to coo and babble while staring at her Momma or Daddy!
-went to the grocery store for the first time yesterday!
-met some of Momma and Daddy's friends and clients at Excellence In Everyone yesterday, too!
-had her first WIC appointment yesterday (it was a very full day!)
-is FINALLY off of the nipple shield when eating...  Thanks Momma Julie! :-)

Sophie babe, SLOW DOWN!  Don't grow up too quickly!

epiphany

I had a realization today.
It's not about me anymore.
It doesn't matter whether I want to sleep in or watch TV all day. It's about Sophie. ALL about Sophie. I can't just sit around and do whatever I want anymore. I need to be paying attention to her as often as I can when she's awake; playing with her, helping her little mind and body develop.
I love my baby girl and I want her to have everything she needs. I'm the one who's home with Sophie most often and I need to be the one to help her in every way possible.

Christmas 2011

Christmas in the Barron home was very quiet this year. Although we did receive quite a few gifts from family (mostly for Sophie), we didn't have much to open on Christmas Day... We got impatient and opened everything early. Hehe! We loved our simple Christmas spent together at home; no interruptions, no trips out. Sophie was an absolute angel all day and we had a great time giggling and playing with her all day!
Drew and I bought each other a few small gifts and had fun opening those together. Drew got me a blender, which I was super excited about! I got Drew a couple books, one of which he was excited about too!
Sophie was dressed in her new jammies from my mom, which were super cute on her.
All-in-all, we had a wonderful Christmas. I love our little family, and I loved our first Christmas Day together!

smiles

My dearest Sophie,
You smiled at me for the first time today. My heart melted. In that moment, I was reminded why I wanted to be a mother. You are such a special, beautiful little girl. You bring us so much joy already, and Daddy and I love watching you grow. Your smile brought a smile to my face and tears to my eyes... Sophie, you made me feel so special. I love being your Momma.
Love you, sweetheart,
Your Momma
