about us

We're from the Syracuse, NY, area and started dating when we went to BYU-Idaho for college. We were married December 2008 and have a daughter, Sophie. We will be welcoming a new baby in November 2013! We currently live in Mason, Ohio, near lots of family! Drew is working at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an Auto Claims Adjuster. Carissa is now a stay-at-home wife and momma! We know there's more in store for us in our future, and we say, "Come what may and love it!"

Sophie, our FIVE!-month-old!

I remember when Sophie was born I told myself I wouldn't let time slip away from me; I would try to take pictures, write down, and document Soph's little life as well as I could. So here I am, trying to keep my promise to myself. My little baby isn't so little anymore and I'm freaking out! I want my babe to STAY little! Five months? It sounds so old.
Today, at five months, Sophie:
-still wears size 1 diapers
-wears 0-3 and 3 month clothing
-weighs 10 lbs 13 oz
-is 24 inches long, with a 16 inch head circumference (nerdy stuff only moms care about)
-tried rice cereal! it constipated her for a whole week, though
-tried stage one baby food - prunes!
-tried apple juice! (she would only drink it warmed in the microwave)
-rolled from her tummy to her back!!!
-almost rolled from her back to her tummy
-giggles so easily when Momma "gets" her belly
-is trying out her voice... lots of different voices, actually
-loves to touch Mommy's face... ALL the time!
-discovered her feet and plays with them every chance she gets
-met Uncle Erik, Great-Grandma Barron, Uncle Dirk, Auntie Stefanie, and many many friends in New York
-was blessed by her daddy at church in Auburn, NY on Sunday, April 15
-no longer sleeps through the night... she eats about every 4 hours - hopefully it'll help her pile on the pounds!
-visited with the doctor here in Ohio
-went to a baby shower in her honor
-is the happiest baby!

I really wish everything would just slow down, but watching Sophie learn and grow is so much fun! I'm so glad she is growing well developmentally, even if she is still so physically small. We'll get there (maybe), or maybe she'll just be petite her whole life. Who knows?

Sophie's Blessing Weekend in NY!

What an amazing weekend! Drew and I decided to have Sophie blessed at church in New York so more family and friends could be present. We had a wonderful time with our loved ones. Sophie was able to meet lots more family, and I actually got pictures of it!

Sharon, Drew's mom, arranged a baby shower for us on Saturday with friends from the ward and whatever family was in the area. Sophie received loads of fantastic gifts!

For Sophie's blessing, Drew held her in his arms and gave her a blessing from our Heavenly Father. It was beautiful and heart-felt and it brought tears to all of our eyes! Drew described his experience as wonderful and very special. He said Sophie looked in his eyes and was perfectly calm as the blessing was given. So sweet!

The rest of our time was spent with Drew's parents and brothers. It was great! Here are some photos from our wonderful weekend:

Happy Sophie

Beautiful Barron gals!

Sophie & Drew

After a wonderful church service on Easter Sunday, I made some funeral potatoes and angel food cake and we all headed over to Aunt Annie's for dinner. We had a great time! Our cute pregnant cousin, Tessa, and her husband, Duffy, were there too!
It was a wonderful first Easter for Sophie. I hope she realizes, someday soon, what an important and significant holiday it truly is. I am so grateful for a Savior who loves me. He sacrificed His own life so that I can return to live with Him again when this life is over. I know that Christ was resurrected and lives today. I know He loves me. I love Him!

Law School

When we made the decision that Drew would attend law school, we prayed and prayed and felt that the Lord would show us which school we should choose. We didn't know how easy the decision would become! Through a financial and geographical process of elimination, our choice was handed to us: Drew would attend the
beginning Fall 2012!
We truly felt that the Lord had helped us with this difficult decision and that we should continue with our plans. We are very excited and blessed that Drew has been accepted to this beautiful and prestigious school! The move from Mason, OH, to Lexington, KY, will come soon. We'll keep everyone updated!

Baby Case

My brother, Travis, and his amazing wife, Meghan, gave birth to their beautiful baby girl!! She was born almost 3 weeks past her due date via home water birth. Her name wasn't revealed until several days after birth. They finally decided upon the name:

Lilly Victoria Ann Case
