oh, hi!
It's been too long, huh?
The last time I wrote, Sophie was 10 months. Well, guess what. She's almost 16 months now - can you believe it?! Time flies when you have children... or, in my case, even just one child.
Well, in the past 6 months, we've had a lot happen. Right before Thanksgiving, WE MOVED! We now live in a 2-bedroom apartment in Mason, Ohio, (just 2 miles away from my dad and family) and we're loving it! Drew started a new job at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an Auto Claims Adjuster. He is successful and likes the work, even though it's super busy. He speaks like an insurance guy now - sometimes using insurance terms or thinking with his "insurance brain" in normal conversation.
Sophie had her first Thanksgiving meal (other than the milk she drank in the hospital the day she was born the year before) and turned ONE year old! That was back in November, but still! Here are some photos from her birthday party:
For an early Christmas gift, Drew sent me and Sophie to Kansas for a visit while he was at training in Indianapolis! It was great!
Sophie also had her first really fun Christmas! It was fun for this momma and daddy too! We loved watching Soph open her presents (don't worry, we didn't go overboard -- but the grandparents did!) and seeing her new books, toys, and baby dolls!
We've also done some other fun things since the holidays...
We went to the aquarium (where our camera battery died after 5 minutes) and Sophie ate spaghetti for the first time by herself. I made Vietnamese beef pho for our special Valentine's Day dinner and we've just been enjoying our time together in our new home!
We went for a short visit to Youngstown last weekend. That's always fun for Soph. She's got second cousins there that make her feel welcome and are very sweet and fun to play with!

tender moments
I find myself wishing "my baby" was still a baby.
I miss her smallness, though she's still small for her age.
I miss her wanting to snuggle with me.
I miss so many things about the baby stages, but there have been so many sweet, rewarding, tender moments as my baby morphs into a toddler....
Sophie will snuggle with me when she's sleepy or sick. She lays her head on my shoulder or my chest, willingly, and just lets me snuggle her.
I find myself going into her bedroom at night just to see her. She sleeps so peacefully and I wonder what she dreams of. Sometimes she wakes up crying and the only thing to soothe her is a warm momma and a good rocking in the chair.
Sophie loves to giggle. Sometimes it makes me giggle too. Sometimes it makes me cry with joy. The musical sound of her laughter makes my heart melt.
My favorite time of the day is when Sophie wakes from her nap, sleepy-eyed, and lounges on my lap while trying to wake up.... Most of the time, Soph will look up at me, take her binky out of her mouth, and slowly says, "Ma-ma".
Being Sophie's momma is one of the most rewarding things I have ever experienced. I love her more than I thought I could ever love someone who isn't Drew. We both feel that she has made our world as it should be. What a sweet heart!
