about us

We're from the Syracuse, NY, area and started dating when we went to BYU-Idaho for college. We were married December 2008 and have a daughter, Sophie. We will be welcoming a new baby in November 2013! We currently live in Mason, Ohio, near lots of family! Drew is working at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an Auto Claims Adjuster. Carissa is now a stay-at-home wife and momma! We know there's more in store for us in our future, and we say, "Come what may and love it!"

Sophie, our FIVE!-month-old!

I remember when Sophie was born I told myself I wouldn't let time slip away from me; I would try to take pictures, write down, and document Soph's little life as well as I could. So here I am, trying to keep my promise to myself. My little baby isn't so little anymore and I'm freaking out! I want my babe to STAY little! Five months? It sounds so old.
Today, at five months, Sophie:
-still wears size 1 diapers
-wears 0-3 and 3 month clothing
-weighs 10 lbs 13 oz
-is 24 inches long, with a 16 inch head circumference (nerdy stuff only moms care about)
-tried rice cereal! it constipated her for a whole week, though
-tried stage one baby food - prunes!
-tried apple juice! (she would only drink it warmed in the microwave)
-rolled from her tummy to her back!!!
-almost rolled from her back to her tummy
-giggles so easily when Momma "gets" her belly
-is trying out her voice... lots of different voices, actually
-loves to touch Mommy's face... ALL the time!
-discovered her feet and plays with them every chance she gets
-met Uncle Erik, Great-Grandma Barron, Uncle Dirk, Auntie Stefanie, and many many friends in New York
-was blessed by her daddy at church in Auburn, NY on Sunday, April 15
-no longer sleeps through the night... she eats about every 4 hours - hopefully it'll help her pile on the pounds!
-visited with the doctor here in Ohio
-went to a baby shower in her honor
-is the happiest baby!

I really wish everything would just slow down, but watching Sophie learn and grow is so much fun! I'm so glad she is growing well developmentally, even if she is still so physically small. We'll get there (maybe), or maybe she'll just be petite her whole life. Who knows?
