about us

We're from the Syracuse, NY, area and started dating when we went to BYU-Idaho for college. We were married December 2008 and have a daughter, Sophie. We will be welcoming a new baby in November 2013! We currently live in Mason, Ohio, near lots of family! Drew is working at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an Auto Claims Adjuster. Carissa is now a stay-at-home wife and momma! We know there's more in store for us in our future, and we say, "Come what may and love it!"

32 weeks!

I've gotten WAY behind on blogging. Sorry if you've been checking to see what's up and nothing is.

I'm actually working on 33 weeks now (today is 32 weeks 5 days), but here are some quick pictures from yesterday:
32 weeks 4 days

See the lack of effort being put into my new "low-maintenance" 'do? Well I love it. I can just blow-dry and go and no one can say I didn't try. Well, except for me, but that's beyond the point. It'll be so much easier to maintain short hair when Sophie comes!
Surprisingly enough for some, I am still loving pregnancy! Sure, I feel more fatigued, hungry, achy, lazy, anxious, overwhelmed, and slightly crazy, but it comes with the territory! I love my body and what it's doing; I am growing a little person! Our little Sophie's getting so big and strong... I can tell she's getting a bit cramped in this belly of mine. Poor babe. No matter! She'll be out in no time: only 6 1/2 more weeks and she'll be completely "cooked"!
Here's a bit about Sophie's growth this week:
"In the latest womb reports, your amazing baby has now developed sensitivity to temperature! Which means you’re likely to get a swift kick if you put a hot pad or bag of ice on your ginormous belly. For the Elton John lovers out there - baby’s got blue eyes. Actually, even if you're too young to know who Elton is, all babies have blue eyes at this point. This could easily change after birth (or even between now and labor), but for the time being, blue it is. Thanks to their recently matured lungs and a strengthening immune system, over 90% of babies born in their 32nd week survive! So - go ahead and throw a mini-party right now because it’s pretty much a done deal - you've got a human-bean that's going to make it! That's not to say you actually want your wee womb-squatter to pack their bags and move out now, because they'd still end up in the ICU for a good while, rather than in your arms at home. Babies are best when fully baked!" -Baby Gaga
"Baby’s energy is surging, thanks to the formation of white fat deposits beneath the skin. (Have those kicks and jabs to the ribs tipped you off yet?) Baby is also settling into sleep and waking cycles, though -- as you’ve also probably noticed -- they don’t necessarily coincide with your own. Also this month, all five senses are finally functional, and the brain and nervous system are going through major developments." -the bump
Love it. I can't wait to see my girl. I can't wait to see how she looks like me and Drew... If you didn't know, I was adopted when I was a baby (best thing that ever happened to me), and I don't know any of my biological family. I've seen a picture of my birth mother, and that's it. So I'm really anxious and giddy to see my sweet babe and see someone who finally looks like me biologically. I know it will be an amazing experience. I can't wait!
